143 kW system for Q Catering

Benefits
- Q-Catering are now generating a whooping 146,202 kWh/Year with an own consumption of 105,410 kWh/Year.
- By choosing to have 270 LONGI solar panels installed onto their unit, Q-caterings amortization period will only be 2.1 years, meaning anything generated after this period will then be profit.
- The business will now also be saving a magnificent 68,667 KG of co2 emissions a year which is the equivalent of 10,172 beef meals!
The Process
Q-Catering are an independent catering supplier in the South-East, and they came to us in need of a solution to lower their energy consumption, due to the vast amount of energy needed to power their refrigerators.
After conducting a roof survey and getting a bird’s eye view from our in-house drone operator, we were able to access the roof without the cost of scaffolding. By doing this, we were able to see that this roof had sky lights which we were unable to put the solar panels over, helping our designers to create an accurate post-survey design for the company to view.
This roof was also slightly curved, so to ensure our panels would sit securely on the roof, we cut the rail into smaller bits and our team of solar panels installers measured precisely how far they need to be apart and then secured them to the roof.
Once the rails were secure, it was then time to start panelling! This entire process took no longer than one week, and as soon as a couple of strings were connected, Q-catering started generating clean, renewable energy straight away!
We are very excited to be working with local Rochester-based solar installation experts South East Solar & Electrical Ltd. The panels were activated for the first time on Thursday last week and generated about 500kwh of electricity in the first 24 hours! We saved about 100kg of CO2 and the equivalent of planting 6 trees, in a day, as a result of the solar panels alone.
